Health Fund & Tax Rebates

Health Fund & Tax Rebates

Health Fund Rebates

Most private health funds provide rebates for hearing aids after a qualifying period of membership. The qualifying period varies between 12 months and three years. Rebates renew after five years for most funds but some do so within three years.

In general private health funds do not cover hearing services. If unsure you may contact you own health fund for details. The following link enables you to explore your own health funds rebates with contact numbers to make your enquiries easier.

Taxation Rebates for Out of Pocket Health Expenses

The government is gradually reducing the value of this tax rebate. For up to date information you should discuss the matter with you tax advisor. In general around 10% of out of pocket expenses above $5000 may be rebated as of 2017. This figure is constantly changing and is only an approximate guide.
