The Signia Silk 1X completely in the canal hearing aid is now available free* to eligible pensioners and veterans of the Australian Government Hearing Services Program. The free to client version uses a size 10 disposable battery with a life of 5-7 days.
It is the most discreet and comfortable free to client device available.
The Silk comes in 7 levels of increasing sophistication, including a rechargeable version. The free to client version is the level 1 X.

Sound Processing
The Silk has graduated sound processing features dependent upon the model acquired. Dynamic Sound Processing adjusts features to optimize performance based upon your sound setting. Up to sixteen channels (think of a stereo graphic equalizer) that enables impressive fine tuning to match your hearing loss precisely. Although tiny the Silk has a binaural directional microphone to focus sounds from the front and suppress noise from behind. Adaptive Sound Management works away in the background to improve speech intelligibility.
One Size Fits All
The Silk is compactly manufactured to reduce its overall size to fit the majority of ears. A simple slip on silicone sleeve, that comes in various sizes, enables the slick unit to be quickly adapted to most ear sizes. The silk however is not suitable for very small ear canals or those with worse than moderate hearing losses.
Connectivity
The Silk, being so discreet, does not include a Bluetooth Chip for streaming. It can be operated with the Signia App that resides on you smart phone and is compatible with both iOS and Android platforms. Communication with the hearing aids comes with an inaudible high frequency intructional pulse to the hearing aids to carry out the desired function. This might be change of volume, balance or listening program.
What are Listening programs?
Listening programs are sound amplification patterns that differ for specific environments, as well as other internal setting changes for the range of pitch available and the amount of feedback control and noise reduction.
The Bernafon Alpha 1 miniBTE has four program memories accessible by a singular on board press button or via an installed Smart Phone application.
