Siemens touchControl

Siemens touchControl

The ability for a hearing aid user to be able to adjust the microphone pattern, know technically as the “Spatial Configurator”,  is amongst the most significant advances in hearing aid technology in decades. I continue to be amazed by reports from my patients of their new abilities to hear speech in challenging environments, especially one client who was able to hear on an aircraft for the first time ever.

The focus can be cast to a narrow front beam, helpful for conversation in noisy environments such as a restaurant. An alternative wide beam is also available to capture a group conversation. A specific left or right focus is also beneficial in a car or similar one sided listening situations.

The microphone pattern utilizes the two front and two rear facing microphones to form an array, much like how telescope arrays are now used to provide greater definition of celestial bodies. As acoustic data is being exchanged continuously between the four microphones, clever programs analyse and sharpen the acoustic focus for your listening benefit.

You can turn your Smart Telephone into a remote control for your Siemens/Signia hearing aids by downloading the relevant application from the Google Play or App store for Android and Apple devices respectively. There exists a “Demonstration” mode with which you can experiment with the application to familiarise yourself with its options. The application is free.

Your Audiologist will however need to assist you in setting up the Siemens Touch Control to ensure your hearing aid listening programs are loaded correctly and that the touch control operability is as per specifications.

ACE Audiology happily assists its clients to achieve optimal benefit from their hearing aids. The Siemens Touch Control is an excellent means to do so without any additional expenditure required. Please feel free to call us on 03 9850 8888 or email reception@aceaudiology.com.au
